I found the book very disappointing. While I am a big fan of Amazon, I also find Amazon's information on the Echo system wanting. Common to the book and AMZ information is that the information presented is incomplete. In the case of AMZ, the info is disjointed. First, start with the fact that I know nothing about the Echo. The first question I was asking myself, is how does the darn thing work and what else do I need to maximize my usage of the product? Both AMZ and Pittman do little to answer the question. How about starting the dialogue with the device uses your Wi-Fi to connect to the CLOUD, what Amazon servers? What is the difference between the Echo and the Echo dot? Both assume I am following along and know something about the product(s).I see a real issue relating to my PRIVACY given that the device is "recording" everything you say and sending it to the (Amazon?) servers, according to the book. While it may be easier for Amazon to design the system that way or maybe they think that I will use more of their services, the lack of PRIVACY is a huge negative to me. Who makes a system that does all of this better and with MY PRIVACY in mind, all contained in my home on my own "server?"
